Packing For The Trip To Vero Beach

This will be my loading up day and packing day for the trip to Vero Beach. I am leaving 03-11 or 03-12. I will go to the Garden Of Art Gallery to set up my display tent. Even with a fellow artist along to help me it will take about 2 ½ to 3 hours.

Deer Lake & Grayton Beach State Parks

Today I went to Deer Lake State Park. It has a long boardwalk over the dunes and finally comes to the beautiful white beach at the gulf. It was very windy and cold. But the sun was shining and I think I got some good photos.
Went to Grayton Beach Park and stopped along the way to photograph one of our beautiful lakes that was ringed with windblown grasses and filled with lily pads. The tall pines as a back drop will one day make a lovely painting.

Dorothy Starbuck Canoes The Chipola

Canoeing the Chipola River was a delightful experience. The river has an aura of remoteness about it that appeals to me as an artist.
With my daughter Kit and granddaughter Summer along, we began our 8 mile trip about a mile from Florida Caverns State Park in Marianna. It took us about 4 ½ hours to of fairly leisurely paddling as we were going with the current.
The river is really beautiful, lined with Oaks, Magnolias, Cypress, and Dogwood to name a few of the trees. Plus all sorts of shrubs and bushes. Some of the trees were turning the colors of fall, which added a bit of excitement to the scenery. About halfway, we came upon some caves which were tempting us to explore, but we had no flashlight so we left that for another time. And I do hope to canoe this river again, maybe in the spring when the trees have budded out.

The art of beloved Central Florida artist Dorothy Starbuck will be featured at the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival in Winter Park, Florida.

The 35th Annual Winter Park Autumn Art Festival will be held October 11-12, 2008, in CENTRAL PARK on PARK AVENUE in Winter Park. The festival is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days and admission is FREE. Central Park, located north of Fairbanks on Park Avenue, offers a spacious venue for artists, food vendors and entertainment.

Live music will be heard from the Main Stage throughout the festival, including the Robert Harris Band from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Jackie Jones from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
